What Has Been Happening At Jester Hill
Wow first blog for 2023 and what a year it has followed. How is it already February?
April 2022 saw Granite Rockin’ Blues entertain in excess of 250 people and raising $2,500 for our local Queensland Rural Fire Service. We are so looking forward to our 2023 Granite Rockin’ Blues which is being held on Saturday 22nd April and featuring some brand new talent. We welcome the infamous Cigarny Weaver Gypsy Jazz and our local Mitch King. Of course our ever popular regulars, Cole Train and Blues Dogs will assist in entertaining you from 11am to 6pm.
Winter and Spring saw plenty of rain, only drying up enough a week before our daughter, Shannon’s wedding on 12th November 2022. How many daughters get their very own sparkling Rose handmade for their wedding? It was the first time in a long time that we had all the family in the one place at the one time. It was very special. Mick, the winemaker, has had an awesome year with wine shows. Every wine on our tasting list including some that have not yet been released have a medal. Our signature wine, the Roussanne, picked up a Gold medal at Queensland Wine Awards. The show featured an International Chair of Judges, Jim Harre and interstate judges.
All-in-all 2022 presented us with 1x Trophy, 2x Gold, 5x Silver and numerous Bronze medals. We have also rekindled our relationship with James Halliday and following a personal tasting by Mike Bennie at Queensland College of Wine Tourism and receiving 4x Silver medals and 7x Bronze medals, we are hoping to reclaim our 4 Star status that was held for some years.
In the vineyard, it has dried off dramatically. We are hoping for a great vintage for 2023 with a tonnage of around 40 tonne. Look out sangiovese, you are on your last chance to perform. Give me a chianti style sangiovese like 2016.
